My Revive Her Drive Review

Highly Recommended

Recently several visitors of blog have asked me about this ebook, which is being advertised quite widely across the Internet. So I purchased a copy myself to find out what all the fuss was about.

Overall my first impression of this book is good. I think it was sincerely written and looks to be very helpful.

Kidney Syndromes and Chinese Nutrition

Qi vacuity is a relatively mild disorder of the network. It can develop into a more serious disorder with yang vacuity symptoms if it persists and the damage increases. More severe damage can injure the organ system structure and present with the same symptoms as yin vacuity. Progression of disorders is not always so clear-cut and may involve gradual transitions and the involvement of other networks. The most common cause weakening the energy exchange of the kidneys are the strong demands made on the body by our civilized world. Both mental and physical overexertion often lead first to kidney qi vacuity, then to kidney yang vacuity, and with prolonged overexertion and stress, finally to kidney yin vacuity. Too much work under time pressure, a hasty, unbalanced and insufficient diet, and not enough time for rest and relaxation can weaken kidney energy within weeks or months. If such constant exhaustion is not balanced or taken care of, serious disorders can develop in...

Rapid weight loss results in many psychological changes as the body shape changes. Several studies have shown increases in self-esteem, self-confidence, asser-tiveness, and expressiveness.26,27 Improvements in the patients' self-esteem and psychological state result in greater assertiveness and improvement in social interaction, sexual activity, and work performance.

Discharge And Home Healthcare Guidelines

Teach the patient strategies to practice safe sex. Inform the patient that the disease can be transmitted during high-risk sexual practices that expose partners to body fluids. These practices include vaginal and anal intercourse without a condom, or oral sex without protection. Encourage the patient to use safe sex practices such as hugging, petting, mutual masturbation, and protected anal and vaginal sex. Encourage the patient to notify any sexual partners and healthcare providers that she or he has an HIV infection. Explain that the patient should not donate blood, blood products, or organs, tissues, or sperm. If the patient continues to abuse intravenous drugs, make sure the patient knows never to share needles.

Differential diagnosis of spondyloarthropathies

Antibacterial serology is not as useful as might be anticipated for two reasons. The first is that adequate serological tests do not exist for some relevant bacteria such as Shigella and Salmonella. The second is the relative lack of specificity of serology. Though there are good serological tests for Chlamydia, Yersinia, and Borrelia, positive serology is frequently found in the relevant background population such as sexually active young adults (for Chlamydia) or people from the same geographical location (Yersinia, and Borrelia).

That has been used for years to manufacture estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Because DHEA is a precursor of testosterone, sometimes high dosages of it cause male characteristic side effects such as facial hair and acne, although doses around 50 mg or less do not appear to cause these side effects. DHEA has been touted as an anti-aging miracle drug. Its claimed effects include increased energy and better sex drive. Although DHEA is available over the counter, you must discuss its pros and cons with your clinician before trying it. The dosage of DHEA being used in clinical trials is about 150 mg to 200 mg per day. A clinical trial looking at DHEA's effect on Crohn's disease is also being conducted.

22.3 A 17-year-okl sexually active man presents with a 5-day history of fever, chills, and persistent left ankle pain and swelling. On physical examination, maculopapular and pustular skin lesions are noted on the trunk and extremities. He denies any symptoms of genitourinary tract infection. Synovial fluid analysis is most likely to show which of the following

Personal Health Problems You May Encounter

Some healers have very high energy levels. The inner aura is about six feet or more in thickness and very dense. They can absorb a tremendous amount of prana at a very fast rate. But these are exceptional cases, not the general rule. Some healers are born with a very high energy level while others attain this through disciplined esoteric training. A certain type of lifestyle may also result in a very high energy level in the long run. By being a vegetarian most of the time, having a moderate sex life, living a well-regulated emotional life, possessing a clear prudent but decisive mind, and doing plenty of regular physical exercise (especially tai chi and yogic exercise) will result in good health and a very high energy level.

Mycoplasmas and ureaplasmas in human disease

U. urealyticum was first isolated from male patients with nongonococcal urethritis (50 of cases). It sometimes causes prostatitis, but may otherwise be found in the male urethra without any symptoms. U. urealyticum is normal flora of the female genital tract after onset of sexual activity (in some populations up to 80 of pregnant women are positive), but in conjunction with anaerobic gram-negative rods, Gardnerella vaginalis and a concomitant depression of protective lactobacilli, it is part of the pathologic bacterial vaginosis and is then present in large numbers. Bacterial vaginosis predisposes to upper genital tract infections (especially endometritis) and an adverse pregnancy outcome, and it doubles the risk of spontaneous preterm delivery. Like other organisms associated with bacterial vaginosis, U. urealyticum and M. hominis are suspected to be involved in intrauterine growth retardation of the fetus. Isolation of U. urealyticum from the chorioamnion with signs of histological...

Clinical Relevance And Epidemiology

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are not perceived by most health care practitioners as a significant problem for older adults (over age 50) in the United States. In fact, many practitioners do not view older adults as even being sexually active, much less at risk for STDs. Aging, intercurrent illnesses, and psychosocial factors often have significant impact on sexual function or the enjoyment of sex in the elderly. Psychosocial factors, such as attitudes toward sexual behavior, reaction to physiologic changes or illness, performance anxiety, or loss of privacy can contribute to sexual dysfunction in both men and women (1). Aging women may be affected by a number of physiologic changes due to the loss of estrogen, such as shortening of the vaginal vault, thinning of the vaginal mucosa, and reduction or loss in vaginal lubrication (2). These physiologic changes, as well as medical conditions such as arthritis, can lead to dyspareunia, which is reported in up to one third of...

Disseminated Gonococcal Infection

Disseminated gonococcal infection in a sexually active adult female note maculopapule with a petechial component and an erythematous periphery located on the extensor surface of the wrist. The diagnosis of DGI is made in the sexually active patient with complaints of tenosynovitis, arthralgias, and the appropriate dermatologic findings. Gram's stain of fluid from unroofed lesions may demonstrate Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Blood cultures may be positive with an increased yield in the early phase of illness with active bacteremia, and urethral or cervical specimens can be obtained for culture or gonococcal antigen. Cultures of the various mucosal surfaces i.e., cervical and vaginal are frequently sterile in the patient with disseminated disease states. Antimicrobial agents of choice include ceftriaxone and ciprofloxacin spectinomycin may be used in patients with intolerance to the initial treatment choices. Treatment regimens include ceftriaxone 1 g intravenously daily...

Assessment Of Fatigue

Lasting 2 weeks or longer'' on the PSC. Of the patients studied, 46.9 were distressed by their lack of energy, while 39.9 were somewhat distressed. Both MSAS and PSC fatigue items were endorsed by 52.7 of the patients. There were no associations found between fatigue and education, age, or race. However, women were found to be significantly more susceptible to fatigue than men. This is not a surprising finding, given that fatigue has been reported as more common among women in both the general population and cancer patients (Curt et al., 2000 Sharpe and Wilks, 2002), and female gender is considered a predisposing factor for fatigue (Sharpe and Wilks, 2002). Men whose primary risk behavior was having sex with men were less likely to experience fatigue than persons whose primary risk behavior was injection drug use or heterosexual contact. The study also found a correlation between the number of AIDS-related symptoms present on the PSC, particularly pain, and fatigue. Finally, Breitbart...

Long Term Effects Tumorigenicity

By the mid-1980s it was fair to conclude that (a) oral contraceptive use did not appear to increase the subsequent incidence of abnormal cytology among women who had normal smears at the time they began to use the products (b) extended oral contraceptive use (over 6 years) appeared to increase by several times the rate of conversion of pre-existing cervical dysplasia to carcinoma in situ. Generally speaking, subsequent data have tended to be compatible with those conclusions, for example pointing to an increased incidence of micro-invasive cervical carcinoma and again stressing the changes in cytology and the extent to which the effect differs with the strength and composition of the product. The average risk figures that emerge are generally in line with those found in a Norwegian study, in which, after correcting for other risk factors, relative rates were found of 1.5 for current users and 1.4 for past users as compared with never-users (112). Clearly, confounding factors, such as...

Pregnancy Category X

Testosterone was discovered in the 1930s. It is primarily a male hormone but is found in females as well. Various forms of testosterone exist, and body chemistry can transform them into still other substances. They play major roles in maintaining male physical characteristics genitals and prostate, beard and other body hair, voice quality, and body build. Testosterone is suspected of influencing thinking abilities and definitely can influence behavior, such as encouraging mania and aggression. One study found high testosterone amounts in criminals with personality disorder, with repeat offenders having the highest amounts. Experimenters documented that giving high doses to mares resulted in markedly vicious stallion-like conduct. Low testosterone levels in men can make them tired and depressed, reduce their interest in sexual activity, and cause male physical characteristics to diminish. In contrast to high and low amounts, one study found that normal levels of testosterone in...

Diagnostic Evaluation Setting

During sexual intercourse, how often were you able to maintain your erection after you had penetrated (entered) your partner 4. During sexual intercourse, how difficult was it to maintain your erection to completion of intercourse 5. When you attempted sexual intercourse, how often was it satisfactory for you consistent or recurrent inability of a man to attain and or maintain a penile erection sufficient for sexual performance 6 . The definition emphasizes and verifies the movement away from intercourse as the end point for the definition of male ED. The quality of erection should be explored, as well as the duration of the erection. These two items are of high importance in the diagnosis of male ED, as many men with ED will still be able to have intercourse but will be thought of as having ED due to the lack of satisfaction with the quality of the erection. As noted in the definition of ED, this is a function of sexual satisfaction. Thus, a young man with an erection that is less...

Genetics and Occurrence

There are few reports examining the incidence and prevalence of Peyronie's disease. The incidence is estimated to be 0.4 to 3.2 53-59 . Unfortunately multi-national, multi-institutional data is lacking. However, there are some insights relating to a higher incidence. A thirty-five year retrospective study in Rochester, Minnesota, is notable 18 . In this study, comprised primarily of Caucasian men, the average age of onset was 53 years old, with a prevalence of 388.6 100 000 (0.4 ), and an age-adjusted annual incidence rate of 25.7 100 000 men (0.3 ) 18 . At the time of the study nine years ago, this translated into 32 000 new cases in the United States annually, with approximately 423 000 men with Peyronie's disease at any given time 18 . Contrary to the genetic studies described above, there was no significant association between Dupuytren's contracture and Peyronie's disease. Further, over the thirty-five year period, both total Peyronie's disease, and Peyronie's disease associated...

Sex Differences in Immunology and Immunosuppression

In vivo information on cytotoxic T-cell-suppressing agents is very limited, but men and women have not been found to have sex-dependent differences in inhibition of lymphocyte proliferation, (129). Although numerous studies have postulated the presence of sex differences based on a higher incidence of organ rejection and increased mortality in women, it is not clear that these observations are due to sex differences (130). In an in vitro study, it was found that cyclosporine was metabolized faster by small intestinal microsomes from females, but this finding was based on only four female samples (131).

In Western Europe the HIV epidemic has followed the same pattern that it has in North America. It began early in the 1980s, seen almost completely in people reporting homosexual behavior. It raged out of control, spreading to the injection drug user (IDU) population, then with the advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) a large drop in the death rates was seen. After spending relatively large amounts of funds on education, these countries also saw declining HIV infection rates until 2000. At that point some of these countries saw a rise in the rate of new infections as a result of unsafe sexual practices among men having sex with men (MSM). wet mount The most important diagnostic procedure to detect the cause of vaginitis or vaginal discharge. Often called the saline wet mount test, because it uses a saline (salt) solution. A cotton-tipped stick is dipped in saline and then mixed with a bit of vaginal discharge. It is examined immediately under the microscope for one of...

Screening for adults

Heart Foundation recommends keeping cholesterol levels below 5.5 mmol L. For most, dietary modification is sufficient to achieve these levels some may require drug treatment. Carcinoma of the cervix. Women aged 18-70 who have ever been sexually active should have a Pap smear every 2 years. Those over 70 who have never been screened should have two successive tests before screening is ceased. After consideration of the relative risks to the individual woman, she and her physician may choose to increase the interval between smears, but the interval should not be greater than 3 years. Risk factors include all women who are or ever have been sexually active early age at first sexual intercourse multiple sexual partners

Psychopathology Theories Of

Network effect - relates to the interactions and relationships in a patient's environment that play a significant role in the production of psychiatric disorders). For instance, an idio-graphically-oriented humanist theorist who emphasizes the importance of phenomenol-ogical experience will include uniqueness and self-discomfort in the definition, whereas a nomothetically-oriented biochemical theorist will formulate a definition in terms of biochemical dysfunctions. According to Millon, once a particular theory has been selected, the definition of psychopathology follows logically and inevitably. No single definition of psychopathology conveys the wide range of observations and orientations with which psy-chopathology may be examined (cf., normalization principle - holds that persons with mental and or physical disabilities should not be denied social or sexual relationships because of their maladies, where such relationships may include a range of physical and emotional contacts from...

To determine treatment plans, inquire about medication allergies. Explore the patient's birth control practices and determine if the patient and partner regularly use condoms. Explore the number of sex partners, the incidence of unprotected sexual contacts, and the frequency of sex with unknown partners. PSYCHOSOCIAL. Selection Of Controls

Erectile dysfunction is estimated to affect up to 30 million men in the United States. Effective oral therapy for treatment of the males with erectile dysfunction has been sought for a long time. Sildenafil is considered a promising agent for erectile dysfunction. However, it is recognized that sildenafil is a potent inhibitor of cyclic guanosine monophosphate in the corpus cavernosum. It increases the penile response to sexual stimulation. Goldstein et al. (1998) conducted a randomized, double-blind study to investigate the dose response of the efficacy and safety of an oral sildenafil in men with erectile dysfunction of organic, psy-chogenic, or mixed causes. In this fixed-dose study, 532 men were randomly assigned to receive 100, 50, and 25 mg of sildenafil or a placebo, approximately one hour before planned sexual activity but not more than once daily, for 24 weeks. This dose-response study used three doses of the active treatment in the multiples of 25 mg (i.e., 1, 2, and 4) and...

It is readily transmitted by sexual intercourse. 3. Former president Ronald Reagan once commented at a press conference that the best way to combat the spread of AIDS in the United States was to prohibit everyone from having sexual contact for 5 years. What would be the success of such a program if it were possible to carry it out 3. Vaginal yeast infections do not spread person to person, generally not even by sexual intercourse. What does this suggest about the cause of vaginal yeast infections

Sources Of Disease Misclassification

Many diseases, defined as a specific biologic condition, are simply not amenable to comprehensive ascertainment for logistical reasons. For example, a sizable proportion (perhaps 10 -15 ) of couples are incapable of reproducing, and some fraction of that infertility is attributable to blockage in the fallopian tubes, preventing the transport of the ovum from the ovary to the uterus. This specific biologic problem, obstruction of the fallopian tubes, is considered as the disease of interest in this illustration. Under the right set of circumstances, such couples will be accurately diagnosed as having infertility and further diagnostic assessment will result in identification of occlusion of the fallopian tubes as the underlying basis for the infertility. In order for this diagnosis to be made, however, the otherwise asymptomatic individual has to meet a number of criteria that are dependent in part on choices and desires. The intent to have a child has to be present. Persons who are...

Alternative mucosal sperm exposure

Of pre-eclampsia, strictly defined by the combined presence of pregnancy-induced hypertension, proteinuria and hyperuricemia, and a control group of 44 women with a normal pregnancy were asked if they had oral sex (intraoral ejaculation) with their partner before the index pregnancy. In the 41 pre-eclamptic women 18 (44 ) had oral sex with their partner before the index pregnancy versus 36 out of 44 (82 ) in the control group (P 0.0003). In addition, 7 of the 41 (17 ) pre-eclamptic patients versus 21 out of the 44 control patients (48 ) confirmed that they had swallowed the sperm (P 0.003). Thus, oral sex before the first pregnancy appears to be associated with a significantly decreased incidence of pre-eclampsia. The authors admitted that further studies are needed to assess whether these findings reflect oral tolerization to paternal antigens or if oral sex is associated with increased genital tract exposure to sperm.

On The Miseries Of Gout And The Virtues Of Colchicine

Until the twentieth century, little could be added to Hippocrates' observations that gout generally attacked young adult males, while sparing women and eunuchs. Victims of the disease were thought to be wealthy men who indulged themselves in heavy wines, rich foods, excessive sexual activity, and those with an ''unhappy hereditary tendency.'' Seneca said the disease had ''Bacchus for its father and Venus for its mother.'' Today, primary gout is described as an inherited disorder of purine metabolism, which results in the accumulation of uric acid. Secondary gout is a condition apparently caused by noxious chemicals, such as lead and various drugs. Seventeenth-century microsco-pists depicted crystals teased from a gouty joint these crystals were eventually identified as uric acid. In 1847, Sir Alfred Baring Garrod (1819-1907), an eminent London physician and professor of medicine, noted an elevated level of uric acid in the blood of victims of gout uric acid levels were not elevated in...

Opportunistic Pathogens

And infections of soft tissues, bone, peritoneal fluid, and catheters, especially in patients with underlying diseases. Staphylococcus schleiferi has been implicated in human brain empyema, osteoarithritis, bacteremia, wound infections, and infections associated with a cranial drain and jugular catheter. This species occurs less frequently than S. lugdunensis in the hospital environment and human infections. Staphylo-coccus saprophyticus is an important opportunistic pathogen in human urinary tract infections, especially in young, sexually active females. It is considered to be the second most common cause of urinary tract infections, such as acute cystitis or pyelonephritis, in these patients. This species can also produce in men urinary tract infections, which (unlike those in women) occur most commonly in the elderly with predisposing diseases of the urinary tract (Marrie et al., 1982a Hovelius et al., 1984 Ho-velius, 1986). Staphylococcus saprophyticus has occasionally been...

Pregnancy most likely diagnosis

The patient has not had a menstrual cycle in 4 months she has experienced symptoms consistent with early pregnancy, such as nausea and fatigue. Intermittent spotting can occur during pregnancy. Intermittent spotting can be caused by vaginal or urinary tract infections, or sexual intercourse. Upon physical examination, the cervix will appear bluish and at the stage of development of our patient, may be more difficult to locate, secondary to being positioned more posteriorly. Also, upon physical examination, an enlarged uterus is palpable in this scenario, which further increases the suspicion of pregnancy. A urine or blood test will be required to confirm the diagnosis.

Impaired Sexual Function

The following three studies have described sexual function in men and women with PD. Thirty-six men and 14 women with idiopathic PD and no signs of mental deterioration completed a structured questionnaire that addressed sexual activity, function, and libido.1 Partici pants mean age was 57.9 years, standard deviation 10.1 years. The duration of disease was 7.01 years, standard deviation 3.9 years. Sixty-eight percent of participants reported decreased sexual activity. Twenty-six percent described decreased libido. Erectile dysfunction (ED) was reported in 38.8 of men. ED was described more frequently in men over 61 years of age. All subjects reported that they were currently living in heterosexual relationships. Frequency of intercourse did not differ between adults with PD and controls. The average age of adults with PD was 45 years. Adults with PD reported greater disagreement with present attitudes about sexuality than controls. Significantly, more adults with PD were unemployed...

Those with Disability Chronic Physical Illness

Not only do certain chronic physical illnesses such as autonomic neuropathy, damage to nerves, and neuro-toxic chemotherapies produce problems with sexual functioning, many drugs that are used for these conditions also contribute to sexual dysfunction. Cardiovascular disease, cancer, arthritis, and so on, increase with aging, and chronic pain may further contribute to low sexual interest and orgasmic dysfunction. A thorough physical assessment must be an integral part of the assessment of sexual functioning. A number of patients may simply be seeking reassurance, education, or permission to carry on with their sexual activity, and a significant proportion may benefit from very simple and focused counseling or intervention. However, in some cases more prolonged therapy may be needed. In a majority of cases, education to change attitudes is a crucial part of therapy. Such an attitude change can be fostered by using a mixture of written and or audiovisual materials and cognitive methods...

Literature Review

Another study using FACES III to investigate family functioning in a group of headache patients reported very different findings from the previous study (Basolo-Kunzer et al., 1991). The authors compared family functioning of 117 headache patients with a control group of 118 normal couples without pain. Their hypothesis, using FACES III, that there would be significant differences between the two groups in family cohesion, protectiveness, adaptability, and satisfaction, was rejected. This was an astonishing finding and posed a challenge to common sense. Their second hypothesis, using the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), that there would be differences between the two groups in marital adjustment, satisfaction, conflict resolution, and sexual relationship, also failed to achieve levels of significance. However, there was some suggestion that both groups experienced marital difficulties. Nothing specific in the response to headache emerged.

Older Adults

Both therapists and patients need to question their assumptions about aging adults. There is some truth in the observation that desire for sexual intercourse falls off with age. However, ageist views on the clinician's part do not help the process of therapy. Older adults may change their practices and become more interested in nonpenetrative sexual activity. In addition, the loss of a partner may be more likely and newer relationships may have the additional burden of opprobrium by the extended families. Female and male sexual responses change with aging, usually due to hormonal changes. Whereas a young male may achieve a full erection in a matter of seconds, an older man may require several minutes to achieve the same response. He may also require a lot of physical stimulation to achieve an erection. Seminal fluid may be decreased. In addition, physical debility may contribute to lowered sexual interest and physical functioning. Drugs prescribed for physical conditions may also lead...

Clitoral engorgement Blood flow to the female sexual organ, the clitoris, is associated with sexual excitement and results in clitoral enlargement (engorgement), and ultimately improves arousal and orgasm (sexual climax) in women Erectile dysfunction The National Institutes of Health (NIH) defines erectile dysfunction as the repeated inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. The word impotence may also be used to describe other problems that interfere with sexual intercourse and reproduction, such as lack of sexual desire and problems with ejaculation or orgasm. Using the term erectile dysfunction makes it clear that those other problems are not involved. Optic neuritis (retrobulbar neuritis) An inflammation of the optic nerve with pain and variable loss of vision. Most patients will eventually be diagnosed as having MS. Orgasm Sexual climax.

Chronic Pain and

Peterson (1979), in a review of the impact of physical disability on marital adjustment, noted that non-handicapped spouses of handicapped individuals were found to become encased by disability, altering appreciably the constant of these marriages (p. 47). The implication is that not too many aspects of a marital relationship remain untouched by chronic disability. Mayou and colleagues (1978), in a study of 100 patients suffering a first myocardial infarction, found that although half of the patients reported a reduction in the frequency of sexual intercourse, comparatively few were less satisfied with their sex lives, and in a number of marriages reduction in sexual activities was viewed positively. Anderson et al. (1985) reported that sexual difficulties in patients with rheumatoid arthritis were commonplace. A range of psychological and biological factors contributed to the relatively high prevalence of sexual problems. Hip replacement surgery and depression militated against a...

John D Carter MD

Reactive arthritis (ReA) is an inflammatory arthritis that arises after certain types of gastrointestinal or genitourinary infections. It belongs to the group of arthritidies known as the spondyloarthropathies. The earliest description of ReA might date back to the writings of Hippocrates A youth does not suffer from gout until sexual intercourse'' 1 . In 1916, Hans Reiter described the clinical triad of arthritis, nongonococcal urethritis, and conjunctivitis that occurred in a German soldier after an episode of bloody diarrhea. He incorrectly assumed it was caused by a spirochete and named this triad ''spirochetosis arthritica'' 2 . In 1942, the symptoms were recognized as a syndrome by two Harvard researchers (Bauer and Engle-man), which they dubbed Reiter syndrome. for this are not entirely clear, but they may relate to better prevention and treatment of acute Ct infections. After the outbreak of HIV in the 1980s, sexual education and the increased use of barrier protection may...

On the HIV AIDS issue, letter writing, postcard campaigns, leafletting, conducting safe-sex tup-perware parties for adults, setting up information tables outside high schools, creating videotapes, questioning public officials, and, for gays and lesbians, forcing colleagues and families to confront an issue they may have preferred to evade by coming out, are all forms of activism. ACT-UP (aids coalition to unleash power), formed in 1987 in New York by a group outraged at the government's mismanagement of the AIDS crisis, was one of the earliest and still probably the best known AIDS activist group.

Chronic illnesses

With age comes the increasing probability of chronic illness and medications and or surgery to treat these illnesses. Many medications can have a negative affect on the sexual reaction cycle (SRC) (Tables 5.2 and 5.3) by affecting vascular, hormonal, or neurological aspects of the SRC. Obesity, diabetes, tobacco, alcohol, drugs, osteoarthritis, and lower-back pain can require shifting in sexual positions for greater comfort.29 Although sexual activity can be demanding, there are very few medical prohibitions to sexual activity.

Supplementation

Boron is not very toxic when orally ingested.50 Evidence for this low toxicity includes the use of boric acid and borates as food preservatives and in oral medicinal products in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Toxicity signs in animals generally occur only after dietary boron exceeds 100 mg kg diet. In humans, the signs of acute toxicity include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dermatitis and lethargy. The signs of chronic toxicity, based mainly on animal findings, include poor appetite, weight loss and decreased sexual activity, seminal volume and sperm count and motility.

Sexual Dysfunctions

Sexual dysfunction can occur at any age but is more common after age 50. In males, sexual dysfunction includes the inability to have or maintain an erection (erectile dysfunction), premature ejaculation, and an inability to ejaculate into the vagina (retarded ejaculation). In females, sexual dysfunction includes an inability to experience orgasm ( orgasmic dysfunction ) and painful intercourse caused by spasms of the muscles surrounding the vaginal opening ( vaginismus). Inflammation of the vagina ( vaginitis) and fungal infection of the vagina ( vaginomycosis) can also contribute to the loss of sexual desire in women. Erectile dysfunction, or impotence, is fairly common in older males. It may be a temporary condition brought about by overeating, excessive alcohol consumption, fatigue, boredom with the sexual partner, marital conflict, and other sources of emotional stress. Impotence is also a chronic condition associated with a variety of diseases (cancer, diabetes, endocrine or...
