The lacrimal and salivary glands of many patients with primary or secondary e.g. to rheumatoid arthritis Sj gren's syndrome, and similarly graft-versus-host disease, have signs of autoimmune disease evidenced by focal periductal and perivascular lymphocytic infiltrates, which consist primarily of CD4 T cells and B cells.
